The procedures of facial rejuvenation with hyaluronic acid-based filler have become, over the years, constantly more complex and elaborate.
The introduction of new types of fillers with innovative rheological characteristics has noticeably broadened treatment options. Implant techniques using needles or cannulas with a higher and higher and safer performance allows the treatment of anatomical areas that years ago were not even taken into consideration. The treatment of these so-called “difficult” and “dangerous” zones has allowed for improvement in the outcome of facial rejuvenation overall.
A fundamental role in the evolution of filler use can be found in our greater knowledge of the anatomical bases that underlie the aging processes. Understanding the anatomy of the tissues present in the face (skin, fat compartments, ligaments and bones), and their modifications correlated with aging, allows a more purposeful and effective approach able to selectively correct the main flaws.
With this book I hope to make a contribution to summarizing the viable techniques with hyaluronic acid filler to obtain the best facial rejuvenation. We go from the treatment of simple surface skin wrinkles to creases in the face such as the periocular wrinkles, the nasolabial and labiomental folds to treatment of the “difficult” zones such as the temples, midface, nose, the lower part of the face, etc., to give the most complete and exhaustive description possible of the principal techniques available.
